A PUBLIC SCHOOL OF CHOICE

Our mission is to “seek excellence in who we are, what we know, and what we do”.  Our school crest helps symbolize that mission.

The School Name

The name of the school forms the banner at the bottom and the fact that it is a special public school of choice in indicated just below the dream catcher.

The Dreamcatcher

The dreamcatcher at the top reflects both our pride in the past and our dreams for the future.  Our hope is that the Edgewood experience will contribute to all of the positive dreams of our students being realized.

The Lamp of Knowledge

The lamp of knowledge and the book in the upper left side is a symbol of seeking knowledge in what we know.   Academic knowledge and wisdom is a primary goal at Edgewood Jr/Sr High School.

The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty in the upper right side symbolizes seeking excellence in who we are as well as what we do as citizens and people of high character.

The Male and Female Runners

The runners are symbols of physical development and athletic competition for all students.  This too pertains to our mission statement.  Edgewood strives to excel both mentally and physically.

The Mask and the Musical Instrument

The mask and the musical instrument located in the lower right hand are symbols of the performing arts.   Drama, Music, and Art are all vital to a well educated and well rounded person and are vital parts of the program at Edgewood.

The Leaves of Laurel

The leaves of laurel on each side represent triumph.  To obtain a Diploma of Distinction from the Edgewood School of Choice is a great triumph and many more triumphs will follow as students continue to   “seek excellence in who they are, what they know, and what they do.
